Description

A Support Worker assists individuals who require care and support due to disabilities, mental health conditions, age-related issues, or other needs. They provide emotional, physical, and practical assistance to help individuals live as independently as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
  • Support individuals with household tasks, including cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
  • Help with medication management by ensuring clients take prescribed medications on time.
  • Assist with mobility and the use of mobility aids if needed.
  • Support clients in accessing community services and activities.
  • Encourage independence and social engagement.
  • Monitor and report changes in the client’s health or well-being to relevant professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report incidents as necessary.

  • Requirements

    Requirements & Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • No formal education required, but a diploma in health & social care is advantageous.
    • Experience in caregiving, social work, or healthcare is beneficial but not always required.

    Skills & Attributes:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Patience, empathy, and a caring nature.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Physical stamina to assist with mobility tasks.

    Additional Requirements:

    • A valid driver’s license (depending on the role).
    • First aid and CPR certification (preferred).
    • Background check or DBS check (for UK roles) to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable individuals.
