We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing care and assistance to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to live independently and achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to promoting the well-being and dignity of the individuals they support.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Provide person-centered care and support to individuals with learning disabilities.
Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
Support individuals in developing life skills, such as budgeting, communication, and social interaction.
Encourage participation in community activities, social events, and recreational programs.
Assist with medication administration in accordance with care plans and guidelines.
Monitor and document the progress and well-being of individuals, ensuring that care plans are followed.
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff.
Provide emotional support and build positive relationships with individuals under care.
Ensure a safe and supportive environment, adhering to safeguarding policies and health and safety regulations.
Respond effectively to emergencies and challenging behaviors, following established protocols.
Requirements
Requirements:
Previous experience in a support worker or care role (preferred but not essential).
A caring and compassionate attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
Understanding of learning disabilities and the challenges faced by individuals.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Basic knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and person-centered care principles.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is advantageous.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check required.
A valid driver’s license (if required for the role)
