Description

Transportation & Logistics Staff are responsible for managing the movement of goods, services, and people, ensuring that deliveries are completed on time, efficiently, and in compliance with safety regulations. They may work in various roles, including drivers, warehouse workers, logistics coordinators, and supply chain managers.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transportation & Delivery Management

  • Driving vehicles (trucks, vans, delivery vehicles) to transport goods or passengers to specified locations
  • Ensuring deliveries are completed on time and in optimal condition
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections for safety and maintenance
  • Loading and unloading goods, ensuring secure and safe transport
  • Managing routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and fuel savings

2. Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Receiving, storing, and organizing goods in a warehouse or storage facility
  • Picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipping
  • Conducting stock checks and inventory control
  • Coordinating the movement of goods between the warehouse and transportation vehicles
  • Ensuring all shipments are accurately documented and tracked

3. Logistics Coordination & Planning

  • Planning and coordinating deliveries, shipments, and transportation schedules
  • Managing relationships with suppliers, carriers, and customers
  • Monitoring shipping routes, handling delays, and resolving logistics issues
  • Maintaining transportation records, including manifests, delivery logs, and shipment tracking
  • Communicating with customers about delivery times, any delays, or changes

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhering to transportation laws and regulations (e.g., road safety, hazardous materials handling)
  • Ensuring vehicles and goods are compliant with health and safety standards
  • Handling and securing shipments with proper packaging to avoid damage
  • Ensuring the safe and secure operation of vehicles, equipment, and goods

Requirements

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics processes
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently (appropriate licenses, such as a CDL for truck drivers)
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with teams and customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Desirable/Preferred:

  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or warehouse roles
  • Forklift certification or experience with warehouse equipment
  • Knowledge of logistics software and tracking systems (e.g., TMS, WMS)
  • First Aid or defensive driving certification
  • Ability to lift heavy items or perform physically demanding tasks
  • A clean driving record (if applicable)
