Description

A Food Processing Worker is responsible for working in various stages of food production, from raw ingredient preparation to packaging the final product. They ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of food manufacturing operations, following health and safety regulations and maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation & Handling

  • Sorting, cleaning, and preparing raw ingredients for processing
  • Cutting, chopping, and mixing ingredients according to recipes and specifications
  • Operating equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders

2. Food Processing & Production

  • Monitoring food processing machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Overseeing cooking, baking, freezing, or canning processes
  • Applying preservation techniques like pasteurization, sterilization, or dehydration

3. Quality Control & Safety Compliance

  • Inspecting food products for quality, appearance, and taste
  • Ensuring products meet health and safety standards, including hygiene regulations
  • Recording data on production yields, waste, and quality checks
  • Keeping track of expiry dates and maintaining proper storage conditions

4. Packaging & Labeling

  • Packaging food products in accordance with company standards
  • Labeling packages with relevant product information, including ingredients and expiration dates
  • Preparing products for shipment or distribution to retail outlets

5. Equipment Maintenance & Sanitation

  • Cleaning and sanitizing food processing equipment and production areas
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment according to food safety regulations

Requirements

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, hygiene protocols)
  • Ability to operate food processing machinery and tools
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality control and adherence to standards
  • Physical ability to handle manual tasks like lifting, standing, and repetitive motions

Desirable/Preferred:

  • Previous experience in food production or processing
  • Certification in food safety or HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
  • Familiarity with food preservation and packaging methods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines
  • Forklift or machinery operation certification (if applicable)
