Description
A Warehouse Worker is responsible for handling goods in a warehouse environment, ensuring that items are stored, packed, and shipped efficiently. They play a critical role in the supply chain process, working to meet order fulfillment deadlines and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Goods Receiving & Stocking
- Unloading deliveries and inspecting goods for damage or discrepancies
- Storing items in the correct location according to inventory management systems
- Sorting and organizing products to optimize space and accessibility
- Labeling products with necessary details, such as barcodes or expiration dates
2. Inventory Control & Stock Management
- Tracking inventory levels and ensuring stock is adequately replenished
- Conducting regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy
- Reporting low stock levels or damaged goods to the supervisor or inventory manager
- Updating stock records and maintaining data on incoming and outgoing goods
3. Order Picking & Packing
- Picking products according to customer orders or shipment schedules
- Verifying the quantity, quality, and correct items before packing
- Packaging goods securely to prevent damage during transport
- Preparing items for shipment, including labeling and generating shipping documents
4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery (if certified)
- Ensuring proper maintenance and storage of equipment
- Loading and unloading goods safely using manual or mechanical aids
5. Health & Safety Compliance
- Following safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Keeping the warehouse clean and organized to prevent accidents or injuries
- Adhering to health and safety regulations and reporting unsafe conditions
Requirements
Requirements:
Essential:
- Physical ability to lift heavy items and perform manual labor
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
- Basic understanding of warehouse processes, including stock management and order fulfillment
Desirable/Preferred:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or similar environment
- Forklift certification or experience with warehouse machinery
- Familiarity with warehouse management software (WMS) and barcode scanners
- First Aid or safety training certification
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines
